GreenBusiness WORKS is an organization dedicated to motivating, inspiring, and providing education to businesses and industry to adopt or accelerate sustainability as a business practice. We accomplish this through live events, webinars, seminars, conferences and marketing services and through brokering relationships  -  introducing those who are just beginning to seek sustainable solutions to those who have the expertise.

Because of our work with CRD Analytics and the Southeastern Corporate Sustainability RankingsGreenBusiness WORKS was invited to participate in the Global Reporting Initiative as an organizational stakeholder. We have joined the global community and are putting our name to GRI’s mission, embracing playing a governance role with the organization and supporting key funding for GRI's important mission.

'A catalyst for change' is also a descriptor applied to our organization. We gladly accept that role, recognizing that it is not always welcomed - change, that is. Layer that with sustainability and our mission can be challenging.

Sustainability seems to be a word that divides us rather than unite us for a common purpose. Whether or not you believe in 'saving the planet' or investing in a company that is financially sound, most would agree that doing business responsibly will give us a healthy environment. We all want to 'Occupy' (a healthy) Planet Earth'.  We all agree we need fresh water, clean air, easy-breezy commutes, healthy indoor air quality, food rich in enzymes, and places of employment where workers receive a fair wage and communities where jobs are plentiful.

However, as a society, we have not taken the necessary steps to ensure these basic needs are met or provided  business and industry  a place to become more inspired, learn, increase skills, manage (sustainable) change and that is why we, along with many other sustainable professionals, exist.

  • What if business produced a product that also had the lowest impact on the environment?
  • What if this process was also financially sound, and increased production, and reduced expenses?
  • And what if we became a healthier society with a healthy economy and thrived, not just survived?

Save the planet,  or save jobs in my community - or as one sustainable leader from the south was known to say,  "I don't care what door you come through, just come on in!"

Join us on this journey. Become more aware, more efficient in processes and conserve resources. What business leader can disagree with that?

Why We Do It

These are turbulent times and the business world is awakening to an inevitable reality: our global economy, society and environment are inextricably linked. In times of economic crisis, innovation is the differentiator and a defining element of success. Nothing in the history of business has proven to drive innovation as much as sustainability has. The quest for sustainability has begun to transform the competitive landscape; it is forcing companies to examine and re-evaluate the way they think about products, technologies, processes, and business models. By treating sustainability as a goal today, early adopters will develop competencies that competitors will be hard-pressed to match tomorrow. That competitive advantage will stand them in good stead, because we believe sustainability will always be an integral part of development.
