Sustainability Leadership

Sustainability is believed to be the greatest business opportunity of our time. Early adopters of sustainable development are changing the rules of the game. Applying a lens that combines environmental, social and economic aspects fosters extraordinary innovation by transforming business, redefining education and transforming communities.

GreenBusiness WORKS has partnered with Sustainable ATLANTA and created a unique series of classes designed to educate participants regarding corporate sustainability, positioning participants to bring sustainable success to their organizations.

Because we believe in a holistic approach to sustainability, we are including an interactive simulation game with Georgia State University and  GreenBusiness LAB in a team environment. Teams will design , develop and deliver a new product to themarketplace, based upon sustainable business practices and profitability.

This Simulation will ‘crack open’ your sustainable thinking, point of view, awareness of the processes and bring sustainable systems into perspective through the simulation of building a new product and bringing it to market, profitably. Your interdisciplinary team will strategize, make decisions and build your product from pieces like Legos, straws, wheels and pixie sticks and then bringing this product to market, not before making sure it actually runs! The ‘game’ tracks your activities with points awarded for various decisions, actions and processes you chose. And then it tells you if you made money! AFter all, that is what running a business is all about - "Doing well by Doing Good!"

All GreenBusiness Lab challenges are based on real-company case examples from manufacturing and service industries. Facilitators draw on conceptual frameworks from such thought leaders in sustainable business as:

  • Stuart Hart and Mark Milstein's Sustainable Value Portfolio,
  • Daniel Esty and Andrew Winston's Green to Gold Stakeholder framework
  • William MCDonough's Cradle-to-Cradle life cycle concepts
  • Janine Benyus's Biomimicry Guild innovations

...and many others

When participants complete this coursework, they will be equipped to turn strategy into reality for long-term benefits.

Participants will come together for four full-day sessions to learn from subject matter experts, case studies, and interactive activities all while learning how to manage change as they integrate sustainability in the workplace.

Graduates will receive a certificate of achievement representing their accomplishments in completing the Sustainability Leadership Series.
